Baby Room

Our Baby room is run by our head of room Fiona Boothroyd and her team and we cater for babies aged between 6 weeks and 12 months. The room is self-contained, consisting of a cosy play room which is colourful and eye-catching, a calm and relaxing sleep roomand its own baby changing room. Activities provided are used to encourage the all-round development of babies whilst enhancing and maintaining their sense of security.

Green Room

Our ‘Green Room’ covers the ages of approx. 12-24 months and is run by Rebecca Furness and her team. This large and bright room is divided in two to provide a separate ‘messy play’ area where children can explore all types of textures ranging from paint to spaghetti. We then have a further carpeted area for lots of floor and table-top activities, with the focus on promoting your child’s early development. The children are actively encouraged to interact with each other and the environment around them.

Red Room

Our ‘Red Room’ covers the ages of approx. 24-36 months and is run by Avril Kryger and her team. With your child’s confidence and communication skills blossoming, our staff in the ‘Red Room’ aim to encourage the children to express their thoughts and feelings, be it about the weather or if they have any news they wish to share with their friends. The room is vibrant and full of energy with busy little children learning to interact with their environment and friends as their individual personalities develop.

Blue Room

You will be welcomed into our Blue room by Selina Birtles and her team. The children are aged from approximately 3 – 4 years old and in this room the staff work hard to prepare the children for the demands of Pre-school. Activities are still very much child led, allowing the children to grow in confidence regarding choices and decision making. Play is now more involved and detailed as their observational skills are more defined. A range of experiences and activities are provided which allow the children to build on and reinforce ideas of the world around them.

Prep-school

Our Prep-school is run by Catherine Mosley and her team and covers the ages of approximately 4 – 5 years old. The room benefits from direct access to our ‘outside-play’ area. Play underpins the delivery of all areas of the EYFS and Catherine and her team provide a balance of child initiated and adult led activities. The room provides well planned experiences that aim to meet the ‘Early Learning’ goals set out for this age group. Throughout their time in Prep-school children will grow and progress in preparation for their journey into Primary School and beyond.

Outside Play

At Hartford Old School Nursery we are extremely proud of our large and secure ‘Outside play’ area. With an abundance of toys and equipment, the children are encouraged to play and interact under the guidance of experienced staff.

It’s not all play though and we aim to teach the children how to grow plants and vegetables with a separate border area and ‘greenhouse’.

We have a separate ‘soft-play’ area for the babies and every class have access to the ‘outside-play’ area at least twice a day weather permitting.
